Thursday, March 31 from 11:45am to 1:30pm in WPI’s Unity Hall
In their book, The Innovation Delusion, Lee Vinsel and Andy Ruseel discuss how universities could be the centers of hope and creativity for today’s global and social challenges, yet they often create a heavy feeling of stress, illness, and despair within their communities. Rather than focus on basic human needs like long term care and maintenance goals, society has sacrificed these goods for the sake of false values named innovation and progress.
During this discussion, Vinsel explores specifically how these choices effect higher education institutions. Within campuses and classrooms, today’s standard social structure has been forged to foster anxiety and distress. Join Vinsel and WPI community members to imagine how higher education institutions could be redesigned with human needs, holistic lifestyles, and care.
